KelVPN: How Systematic SEO Grew Search Traffic 12.5x
KELVPN
KelVPN is an international VPN service focused on security, privacy, and modern technologies for secure internet access.
Client website: KelVPN
Our task was to systematically develop the organic channel: fix the site’s technical problems, expand semantic coverage, increase the number of search landing pages, and create a stable flow of traffic from search engines.
Important: the project was carried out exclusively for the foreign market and foreign users. No promotion to the Russian audience was performed. The Russian-language version of the site was used for Russian-speaking users outside Russia.
The work used standard, legitimate, and safe digital marketing methods: technical SEO, content marketing, analytics, link building, and site optimization.
PROJECT GOALS
- Increase organic search traffic
- Build a scalable content system
- Improve site indexing
- Prepare content for the development of AI Search / GEO / AEO
SOLUTION AND AREAS OF WORK
We started with a technical audit. At the start, the site had no proper robots.txt or sitemap.xml, and there were problems with redirects, multilingual setup, duplicate pages, headings, a broken JS file, and structured data.
After the audit, we prepared technical specifications for the developers and oversaw their implementation.
TECHNICAL SEO OPTIMIZATION
We rebuilt the technical foundation of the site:
- set up a correct multilingual structure;
- implemented hreflang;
- set up redirects from HTTP to HTTPS and from www to the main domain;
- removed duplicate pages with GET parameters;
- created robots.txt and sitemap.xml;
- fixed the H1–H6 structure;
- made Title and H1 unique;
- prepared a complete 404 page;
- implemented Schema.org BreadcrumbList;
- fixed broken links and technical errors.
The goal was not simply to “write more articles,” but first to bring the site to a state where search engines could properly crawl, index, and rank a large volume of new content.
SCALING CONTENT
Next, we launched the systematic production of SEO content.
In total, 338 internal pages were written and published — 169 pieces of content each in English and Russian.
The content covered several large clusters:
- VPN technologies and internet security;
- privacy and data protection;
- how a VPN works with popular digital services;
- AI tools and SaaS;
- social networks and messengers;
- streaming services;
- crypto platforms;
- professional use cases;
- regional and product search queries.
Thanks to this, instead of a handful of main pages, the site began to gain hundreds of additional entry points from organic search.
OFF-PAGE PROMOTION
In parallel, we worked on the project’s link profile.
About 50 external publications were placed: guest articles, mentions, and materials on third-party platforms.
The goal was to simultaneously strengthen the site’s link mass and the brand awareness of KelVPN.
ANALYTICS AND MONITORING
SEO was turned into a measurable system.
We used:
- Google Search Console;
- Yandex Metrica;
- Yandex Webmaster;
- Topvisor.
We tracked indexing, positions for commercial and informational queries, search traffic, goals, and behavioral metrics.
This made it possible not just to publish content, but to see which clusters were starting to grow and where to direct resources next.
GEO / AEO AND AI SEARCH
A separate area of work was adapting the materials to the new search format — GEO/AEO, where content must be understandable not only to classic search engines but also to AI systems.
The first such work began in March–April 2025: new publications started to be adapted for AI Search, and the results were tracked in AI search interfaces.
For the project, this became the next stage in the evolution of SEO: competing not only for positions in classic search results, but also for brand presence in AI answers.
RESULTS
The main result was a sharp increase in organic traffic.
Search traffic:
- January–May 2024 — 914 users
- January–May 2025 — 1,175 users
- January–April 2026 — 14,683 users
Thus, over a practically comparable period, search traffic grew by approximately 12.5x year over year.
+1,150% organic traffic year over year
At the same time, this result was not achieved by a single advertising campaign or a lucky publication, but by building a full-fledged SEO system:
technical foundation → semantics → mass content → external links → analytics → GEO/AEO.
WHAT’S NEXT
The next stage of the project’s development is updating old content for GEO/AEO, strengthening internal linking, further link building, and scaling the site to additional languages.
For an international digital product, SEO has ultimately turned from a supporting channel into a scalable source of user acquisition.
